FIELD COORDINATOR
Job Purpose: To make sure all fieldwork is completed in a timely and accurate manner

Essential Job Results
Oversee the following:
- Oversee Assistant Field Coordinator, and Administrative Assistant, Builder Coordinator and Commercial Construction crew chief.
- Coordinate activities involved in the opening & closing offices.
- Pair up two person crews (prepare names on post it notes)
- Lay out all title jobs not surveyed onto big table
- Lay out all quote jobs onto other table
- Route all jobs
- Give routes to crews
- Field packs
- Special instructions
- Technical jobs
- Appointments
- Rush jobs
- Etc.
- Issue trucks to crews
- Issue equipment from a locked room in which only three supervisors have access
- Oversee loading of equipment and supplies
- Fax machines
- Guns
- Tripods
- Supplies

- Forward all original files to Assistant Field Coordinator
- Answer any questions the field crews might have
- Oversee all jobs throughout the day

- Oversee the entire training for field department employees
- There is training five days a week after work on our time

- Existing employees – first week of each new season (three times yearly) or as needed
- New employees – during orientation and after ten days as to allow for the employee to learn the procedures and equipment
- Oversee the growth, or lack of growth, inside the field department. Ensure the employee is exercising maximum output (production).

Job Training
ASSISTANT FIELD COORDINATOR/
JOB QUOTER
( 5:30 AM–2:30 PM)
Job Purpose: To assist the Field Coordinator to make sure all fieldwork is completed in a timely and accurate manner
Supervisor: Field Coordinator
Essential Job Results
- Open office
- Set up Modem computer
- Set up Tele-Trac computer to track PLS vehicles
- Activate S-Track
- Check WFAA.com Doppler for today’s weather (if needed)
- Check the fax machines and printer for possible paper refills
- Unlock cabinets for party chiefs to obtain fax machines, guns and other equipment
- Unlock equipment room and distribute equipment to crews: pencils, batteries, etc.
- Answer any questions the field crews might have or refer the crew to the Title Field Coordinator
- Recheck to make sure no equipment was accidentally left
- Receive field folders from the Field Coordinator
- Status job number under party chief names
- Status the today dues with a check to indicate a today due
- Print completed schedule and highlight today dues and next days up until 2:00pm
- Print active outstanding report to determine that all job status have been correctly updated from the day before
- Inform Field Coordinator how many are fielded, and of the ones fielded, how many are today dues
- Post completed schedule in field office and in the hallway next to CAD
- Recheck Modem computer to verify set up and ready to go
- Discuss with Field Coordinator the game plan for day
- Receipt of Faxes from the field
- Retrieve field folder
- Verify fax is readable
- Place fax in folder
- Status the job in S-Track from field to drafting
- Mark through the job on the schedule list showing that the job has been completed and is in drafting
- Verify Modem transmission was successful in the download room
- Convert the CR5 to ASC file.
- Print the RW5 file and place in folder
- Write the ASC file name on the folder under the ASCI File Name heading
- Take folder to CAD
- Mark through the job number on the list outside the CAD Department
- Continue this procedure throughout the day
- Pull aerial photos from the Internet for quote jobs
- Assist Field Administrative Assistant with vehicle maintenance
- Keep record of absenteeism of crews
- Record the daily time of the field crews and prepare the time sheets for payroll
- Return all jobs not surveyed or with corrections needed to the Field Coordinator for re-fielding
- Verify all equipment issued is returned and check for lost equipment
- Evaluate trucks used that day to determine interior and exterior status
- Oversee the parking of company vehicles in back of building
- Assist Field Coordinator as needed

Job Description
FIELD CREW CHIEF
Job Purpose: Collection of data and preparation of field notes by overseeing crew and all equipment to produce an accurate survey in a timely manner with minimal error.
Essential Job Results:
- Report between 6:00 and 6:15 a.m. each day ready to work
- Make sure your crew has done the following and be responsible for:
- Clean out all trash inside and in the bed of assigned vehicle
- Load all the surveying equipment into the toolbox
- Re-stock any supplies needed into vehicle from the storage room
- Organize the truck cab and toolbox in preparation of day’s work
- Complete full equipment check
- Navigate the Crew from job to job by the quickest possible route
- Study any previous fieldwork inside the field pack before reaching your next destination
- Check for and note any curb ties, monumentation sizes, and types
- Unload equipment from vehicle at job
- Find all monumentation at job site from notes
- Walk property and make notes and verify everything is drawn and tied in
- Return equipment to vehicle
- Make complete equipment check and verify everything is in correct place
- Make sure all grass plugs are returned in yard
- Select and pull extra flags from ad joiners and traverse points, leaving only corner markers
- Make sure all gates are closed
- Return to office and do complete equipment check
- Unload equipment and return to storage
- Make sure vehicle is clean

Job Description
FIELD CREW MEMBER
Job Purpose: Assisting the Crew Chief with the collection of data and preparation of field notes by overseeing equipment, navigation, and verifying data, to produce an accurate survey in a timely manner.
Essential Job Results
At the office in the morning:
- Report at 5:50 a.m. each day ready to work
- Clean out all trash inside and in the bed of assigned vehicle
- Load all the surveying equipment into the toolbox
- Re-stock any supplies needed into vehicle from the storage room
- Organize the truck cab and toolbox in preparation of day’s work
- Complete full equipment check
In the Truck and On the Way to the Job:
- Navigate the Crew from job to job by the quickest possible route in the Mapsco
- Locate the nearest side street to the lot on the plat – so that you may get your crew to the corner of the side street and your subject street with the aide of the Mapsco
- Study any previous fieldwork inside the field pack before reaching your next destination
- These items should be in the field pack:
- Recorded and/or tax plat
- Look at the size of the lot, the street right-of-way (R.O.W.), the alley right-of-way (R.O.W.)
- The tax plat is most likely to have current street names and lot dimensions
- Previous Surveys either on our lot, next door, or two doors down
- What size and type of monuments were previously found, where are they, and will they help me on this job today?
- Check for and note any curb ties, monumentation sizes, and types
- Once in the subdivision
- The crew chief will stop at the street corner and write down/verify the street name exactly how they see it.
- From the street corner, continue to count down houses/lots until you reach the lot.
- Verify that the address on the house should matches the address on the field pack.
- If the address does not match, call the field office immediately and say, “The lot and block does not match the address” then wait for further instruction.
At the Job:
- Unload equipment from vehicle at job
- Shovel, metal detector, pin flags, 60D nails with pink and blue flagging, measuring tape (100ft), and your copy of the plat
- Once on the property, the following actions will occur
- The Crew Chief will notify they homeowner that we are on the property
- The Rodman will do the following:
- “Bust” the street for the dimension (curb to curb)
- Take the distance minus the R.O.W. then divide that by half to calculate the curb tie
- Distance – R.O.W. / 1 = curb tie
- Walk to block corner and step off the curb tie
- Find property corners (front, back, across the street, and across the alley)
- Set traverse points
- Grab a rod and be ready!
- Be sure to keep a few 60d nails with pink and blue flagging on hand at all times!
- Walk property with Crew Chief’s notes and verify everything is drawn and tied in
- Return equipment to vehicle
- Make complete equipment check and verify everything is in correct place
- Make sure all grass plugs are returned in yard
- Select and pull extra flags from adjoiners and traverse points, leaving only corner markers
- Make sure all gates are closed
- Return to office and do complete equipment check
- Unload equipment and return to storage

Job Purpose: To assist the field office with phone calls, typing, filing, data entry, preparation of spreadsheets, office supplies and status jobs for field crews. Be detailed-oriented, work in a fast pace environment and knowledgeable in Microsoft software. Help with any special projects.
